Beginning with an Old House

Everyone will tell you that renting a space first is too expensive.
But when you actually have a space, it allows others to see your vision, rather than just something on paper. It will push you forward instead of leaving your ideas on hold.

On the day we measured this space, the sunlight poured in, and the room with the wooden windows was filled with brightness.
As someone who loves old buildings, antiques, and old books, I took many photos the first time I came here, captivated by the shadows of trees swaying on the old house.

Later, during our renovation, a park was built right in front, and the wind could pass through the windows. There were trees, birds singing — it’s not a complicated place, but there’s a calming rhythm to it. In the future, I can imagine bringing my child to the park, though the cat probably won’t come, I really hope to bring a dog, who hasn’t yet entered our lives, for walks.

I remember that moment during the site visit when countless thoughts flashed through my mind — sketches I had drawn in the past, unfinished designs, ideas I had always thought, “One day, I’ll do this.”
At that moment, I truly felt the saying, “I wish I had learned more when I had the chance.” It felt as though everything I had learned or imagined before was finally coming into play.
There were so many great ideas, and now I finally had a place to bring them to life. I couldn’t help but wonder, “Why didn’t I start sooner?”
It felt as though time was running out to present these wonderful ideas.

But perhaps, this is how things are meant to unfold.
After walking through uncertainty, taking detours, and accumulating enough thoughts, you begin to realize what kind of space you want to create and what you want to communicate.
Sometimes, what you envision in your heart doesn’t materialize right away.
It’s only when you have the space — the place where things can happen — that everything truly begins to move.
